Learning outcome 1:Describe the potential of human-centered learning in distributed and open learning contexts.

Learning outcome 5: Conduct research into and critically reflect upon emerging and future educational technologies.

In this EDCI 339 course, the topics we discuss from topic 1 to topic 4 are all about distributed and open learning, so I think I have achieved both outcomes in each of my blogs.

In the article, I read on topic 1 I learned that many people worry about whether their minds will be revealed because of the data collection required for open education. That’s why I mentioned the issue of personal privacy in the topic 1 blog because people in today’s society are paying more and more attention to their privacy issues, which is one of the core theories of human-centeredness. If the issue of privacy leakage cannot be handled well, then students will have a lot of worries when it comes to distribution and open education. So I suggested that what was needed was a better oversight body to manage this information and the company.

And my pod member Yunjun Huang also suggested that he had the same idea as I did:

In the topic2 blog, I explored the advantages and potential offered by distributed and open learning. In it, I mentioned that this learning model gives students more freedom of choice and the ability to schedule their own learning flexibly. This is something that traditional courses cannot do.

I also pointed out that thanks to Covid-19, we had an unprecedented year-long experience with online classes, a period of adjustment for both students and teachers, moving from offline to purely online classes. And I have experienced the advantages of online courses in it, online courses cannot be equated with distributed and open learning, but both have similar degrees. And after Covid-19, I also noticed that many teachers increased their use of LMS platforms such as Brightspace, which I think is a sign that teachers are also discovering the benefits of LMS and open learning.

My pod members Dennis and Keifer also offered similar thoughts to mine, and these comments are further evidence of my ideas and the Learning Outcomes I have achieved.

From completing these activities I learned many new concepts including human-centered, open, and distributed learning, and discovered more about the benefits of online teaching and learning and open and distributed learning.

The things I learned matter to me because through this period of study and the articles I have read, I now clearly understand the potential of human-centered learning in distributed and open learning contexts and I believe that the future education model will definitely develop toward this goal. Now we are already in the age of information technology, and when 5G is popularized and applied, or when 6G comes, our learning methods will definitely change drastically. So we need to further prepare for this goal, such as the privacy issues and regulations mentioned earlier!
